To ensure that you get the most out your first visit, please review the following steps:
- Print and complete our new patient forms before you come to your appointment.
- Make sure you have the correct date and time written down – just in case!
- Have your spouse, friend, or loved one confirmed for the appointment as well.* Why?
- Your loved one has a voice that is familiar to you. When we demonstrate hearing aids on you, they will speak to you in a live voice demonstration so you can really hear the difference that these devices make.
- Your hearing loss doesn't affect just you. This close family member or friend may be able to offer a different perspective to our team on your hearing loss, since they are the ones that spend the most time with you.
- You can only tell us about what you're having trouble hearing and that's only half the problem. The other half is what you're missing and that's where the importance of bringing someone close to you comes in.
- There's a lot of information to cover! Especially if this will be your first visit and are learning about your hearing loss and solutions for the first time, it's a lot to take in. We try to make the information as easy and digestible as possible, but it may still be helpful to have someone there help you remember it, or ask any questions you may have forgotten.
- Sometimes it's just nice to have someone you know there.
What Can you Expect on Your First Visit?
We will test your hearing and evaluate if you do in fact have a hearing loss, and if so, how severe the loss is. We then will put hearing aids in your ears so you can hear for yourself what it’s like to have the sounds you’ve been missing amplified. Your loved one’s presence is crucial in this part of the test as we use their voice for you to hear the difference these devices make. Your loved one’s voice is one that is familiar to you – and one you may have an especially hard time hearing – so being able to use their voice in the test gives you the best possible real life listening situation that you will need once you are out of our offices and in your own environment.
